Stunning Hanbury Manor Ware Wedding: Bryony & Michael
A classic English wedding with a bit of a twist, Bryony and Michael’s day may seem calm on the surface, but you would never guess that the room where the bridal pictures were being taken was plagued by hornets! I think I was more scared than the bridal party…well that’s what they said anyway!
Held at Hanbury Manor in Ware, the wedding took place in the stunning Garden Court and Walled Garden, making for a beautifully secluded ceremony. The bridesmaid’s sage green dresses looked spectacular against the leafy backdrop and thankfully the weather stayed dry during the English Summer.
Days like this are often filled with nerves, and the groom Michael tried to calm his own and everyone else’s by joking around as normal. Michael’s equally as playful brother Roy was the best man and throughout the day he was focused on his speech – he was still writing it during the wedding breakfast to make sure that it was absolutely perfect!
Roy’s speech was unlike any other I’d ever heard (as you can imagine, I’ve heard a few!). Roy wrote it in such a way that he always had a fall back topic in case his current story didn’t go down too well with the guests. Not only that, but he was careful… very careful to not be letting out too many secrets of Michael’s younger days, as he would be returning the favour at Roy’s upcoming wedding and he didn’t want to give him the feeling of wanting to even the score… brothers will be brothers!
The wedding breakfast was a bit different to most, and it was set up like an afternoon tea where guests could pick and choose what they wanted from delicate cake stands dotted around. I’m always surprised by the ideas that different couples have to make their day their own and this one was absolutely yummy. The meal tied in beautifully with the couple’s Lewis Carroll inspired wedding cake and Michael even handed out some funny books to the guests to complete the literary theme, with titles such as “How it works… The Wife” and likewise for “The Husband“.
From hornets to hardback books to a bride that looks like the stunning Jane Seymour, it’s always a pleasure to be a part of such a fabulous day, and when the couple are as warm and welcoming as Bryony and Michael were, it makes me feel pretty lucky!
