Soulful Shuttleworth Mansion House Wedding Biggleswade
Despite the clouds in the sky, the weather was beautiful for Paula and Paul’s Shuttleworth Mansion House Wedding in Biggleswade. With stunning grounds, and plenty of lush greenery, this historic house was the ideal backdrop for their elegant day, and the dramatic skies and grandiose surroundings just topped it all off nicely.
The ceremony was held in the magnificent ballroom with its intricate cornices, solid wood panels and 19th Century portraits. A perfectly intimate and romantic space for a wedding, where Paul organised the ‘Soul Man’ to sing ‘My Girl’ acoustically as they left the ballroom. This was a huge surprise for his new bride, Paula, who was absolutely thrilled!
This location had everything – from parkland, a picturesque bridge and a summer house, to the imposing clock tower and grand staircase inside, Shuttleworth Mansion was the ideal location for taking memorable wedding photographs. To add some more spontaneity into the mix and follow Paul’s lead, I asked Paula to pretend to throw her bouquet for fun, which made all of the girls around start laughing in disbelief! Not to be upstaged, the guys in the wedding party had a great time when I asked them to flick open their jackets at speed so they could all place their hands in their trouser pockets. Obviously, a jacket flicking contest ensued, the guys couldn’t stop laughing!
After the ceremony and the formal photographs, we moved inside to the Morning Room for the speeches, and of course the wedding breakfast. The room was a joy to shoot in, as the large windows let in plenty of gorgeous natural light, and spirits were high after the formalities of the day were over. The day ended with a spot of salsa dancing in the evening, which was the perfect end to the perfect day for Paul and Paula as they tied the knot.
