But for Megan and Alex, it wasn’t just about capturing a few pro pictures. So this was an opportunity to celebrate their shared passions. For dance, love for food, and zest for life in one of the most beautiful hidden settings imaginable. York Gardens in Twickenham. A park that I love shooting in.

When Megan and Alex booked their London pre-wedding photoshoot, I knew it was going to be something special. After all, how often do you get to photograph a couple who met at a university swing dance society and have been twirling through life together ever since?

It’s a time filled with dreams, plans, and, yes, a little bit of stress. But a London pre-wedding photoshoot allows you to pause and savour this next chapter. For Megan and Alex, it was a chance to let loose, have fun, and create memories that they’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Why York Gardens Twickenham?

York Gardens Twickenham was the perfect backdrop for this dance-loving duo’s pre-wedding photoshoot. Dating back to the 17th century, the gardens are a serene oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Many features from Indian industrialist Sir Ratan Tata’s ownership remain, including the sunken lawn and the sea nymph statuary near the riverside.

As we wandered through the gardens, we stumbled upon the restored Japanese garden. A quiet spot that felt almost magical. The English midsummer garden, carefully cultivated for generations. It was bursting with colour and life, much like Megan and Alex’s relationship. And let’s not forget the riverside promenade, a joy to behold with herons, great crested grebes, and many lovely London trees.

The couple couldn’t resist a few playful moments near the eight larger-than-life statues known as The Oceanides. Located at the western end of the riverside gardens, these statues are tremendously popular with visitors. They form the backdrop to the Richmond Shakespeare Society’s summer shows.

Meet Megan and Alex

So, who are these lovebirds? Megan and Alex met at university, bonding over their shared love of swing dancing. Alex was the teacher, and Megan was the eager student. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were a perfect match. Both on and off the dance floor.

A perfect day for Megan and Alex might involve a good walk, a vintage festival, or a wine and cheese tasting. They love to travel and are always up for trying something new, especially when it comes to food. Cooking and baking are big hobbies for them, and dancing is their favourite way to burn off those extra calories.

On a sunny day in May, we met at York Gardens Twickenham for their London pre-wedding photoshoot. The gardens were in full bloom, the air was filled with the scent of roses. And the riverbanks were alive with the sounds of nature. As Megan and Alex twirled and dipped, their joy was infectious, I love it! It was clear that their love for dance was only matched by their love for each other.

We started along the riverside promenade, where the gentle lapping of the Thames. There the sight of herons provided a tranquil backdrop for some more relaxed shots. In the Japanese garden, they shared a quiet moment, playful moment as they took in the beauty around them.
