Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer | Sophie and Chris’ Wedding

As a Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing some truly unique and memorable weddings. One of my most cherished experiences was photographing Sophie and Chris’ wedding, which took place in a series of stunning locations across Kent.

Sophie and Chris found my details through the website of the golf course and hotel they had chosen for their wedding. From there, we began our journey together with an initial call, followed by a delightful meeting at one of my favourite spots in Sevenoaks – Otto’s Coffee House & Kitchen. With its fantastic coffee and delicious cake, it quickly became the perfect place to sit down and discuss their vision for the big day.

A Shared Love of Star Wars

As we looked through my wedding albums, Sophie shared some personal details about herself that would help to shape the day ahead. One thing that stood out was her love for Star Wars, which she wanted to feature prominently during their wedding breakfast. But before we got to the fun and exciting part of the day, we would begin with a beautiful and intimate ceremony at the Archbishop Palace in Maidstone.

The Ceremony at Archbishop Palace

The ceremony took place at the Maidstone Register Office, where Sophie and Chris had hired out the entire floor to ensure a private, personal experience for their closest friends and family. Sophie made a grand entrance in a White London Taxi, a charming touch that set the tone for the day.

I remember taking some quiet moments in the adjoining Great Hall to capture some portraits of Sophie and her bridesmaids as she prepared herself for the big moment. Her excitement was palpable, and there was a sense of calm in the room as she composed herself before walking down the aisle. When Sophie entered, I could see Chris’ face light up – he was absolutely beaming, and it was clear that he was overwhelmed with joy.

A Moment to Remember

After they were married and were waiting for their marriage certificate, I witnessed a beautiful moment that I’ll never forget. Sophie and Chris shared a quiet moment together, enjoying the first few moments of married life, completely immersed in the joy of the occasion. Chris’ father stood nearby, clearly moved by the love he saw between them. His expression was one of pure admiration, almost as if he were witnessing the depth of their affection for the very first time.

Beautiful Portrait Locations at Archbishop Palace

The Archbishop Palace is a wonderful place for wedding photography, offering a variety of stunning spots for portraits. The herb garden, the majestic trees surrounding the property, and the access to the River Medway all provide beautiful backdrops for photos. It’s a hidden gem for those seeking a registry office in Maidstone, offering a combination of elegance and natural beauty that’s perfect for a wedding.

The Unexpected Red Bus Adventure

After the ceremony, things took an unexpected turn. Sophie and Chris had arranged for a vintage Red Bus to transport everyone to the Weald of Kent, but somehow, the bus forgot to pick us up! While this could have been a stressful moment, it turned into a fun and light-hearted one instead. As the bus arrived to collect us, I managed to capture a fantastic shot of Sophie and Chris running towards it, laughing as they thought they were going to miss it again. It was a beautiful, candid moment that added to the charm of the day.

Keeping Everyone Together

I, a Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer, always encourage couples to keep everyone together when moving between venues, as it helps to prevent anyone from getting lost and ensures the schedule stays on track. Sophie and Chris’ choice to hire the bus not only made it easier for guests to stay together but also helped maintain the flow of the day without any hiccups.

Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer: 3 Unforgettable Highlights

The Weald of Kent function room was beautifully decorated, with a special nod to Sophie’s love for Star Wars. The wedding breakfast area was transformed into a themed space, complete with a cake that was traditional on one side, but had a fun Star Wars twist on the other. It was a fantastic idea and a perfect way to incorporate a personal passion into the celebration.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, especially when Chris was subjected to a cheeky and slightly embarrassing speech by his three mates. Inspired by ‘Top Gear,’ it had everyone in stitches and brought out some red-faced moments – all the better to get the emotions flowing.

A Privilege to Be Their Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer

Capturing the love and joy of Sophie and Chris’ wedding was an absolute privilege for this Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer. It was clear from the start that they were a couple deeply in love, and their wedding was a true reflection of their personalities. Shortly after their wedding, they embarked on an exciting honeymoon to Bali – what an amazing destination to start their married life together! Being their Weald of Kent Wedding Photographer was an honour, and I’m so grateful to have been part of their incredible day.
